The last episode of children's programme Doctor Who is to be shown on the same day as London Pride - what's to do?
Stay at home and watch the children's programme? Or go out and party with tens of thousands of fellow homos, at least some of whom are likely to be attractive?
Pride London, knowing that no television programme is ever repeated in the UK, have solved this dilemma by announcing they're to show the final episode on the big screen in Trafalgar Square.
Phew. Actor John Barrowman will be talking about his role in Doctor Who earlier in the day.
Ok ok, here is the serious bit:
The Pride London Main Stage is hosted by Graham Norton, John Barrowman, Amy Lamé, Gaydar Radio’s Jamie Crick and Lucio from Capital Radio.
Confirmed artists include Darren Hayes, Unklejam, The Axe Girls, Kelly and the Kelly Girls and many more.
From London’s West End the show will also feature extracts from ‘Wicked’ and Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Joseph'. Also appearing are leading politicians and LGBT activist speakers from around the world.
The programme starts at 3.00 in Trafalgar Square following the Pride Parade from Oxford Street and finishes with the Doctor Who screening at 7.10. The bars will remain open throughout the day.
Hurrah! Drink!
Also note that it wil be the last day patrons will be able to smoke inside gay bars - that Patricia Hewitt, nanny-knows-best smoking ban comes into effect on the 1st July.
PinkNews.co.uk has officially never heard of these people:
Unklejam, The Axe Girls, Kelly and the Kelly Girls
which is a sure sign we are getting old.

Why does this blog comment have no byline?
This site should appreciate a show like Doctor Who - one that has a liberal agenda, has many examples of incorporating gay themes and a production team made up of many gay people.
Sad, nasty and bitchy - but maybe that is the stereotype that the writer wishes to perpetuate.

Doctor Who isnt a children's program - its a family programme that can be watched by people of all ages.
Some people like to watch TV shows the time it is first shown.
And like David Baker said - it has a large gay following, and several members of the production team are gay.
I cant see why this is so bad to you?

Doctor Who is a british Institution; so it is fitting it should be broadcast at Trafalgar Square during a great parade of equality.

you mentioned the your smoking ban, but fortunately in wales & scotland we're already smoke-free. it makes going out a much more pleasant experience. no smelly clothes, coughing when entering a bar or red eyes. hugz DavyPaul

Some gutless wonder has now changed the headline from 'Gay sci-fi geeks...."

what's to do?
Stay at home and watch the children's programme? Or go out and party with tens of thousands of whistle blowing sad queens that make you feel embarrassed to be gay?
Has nobody heard of video recorders?

Interesting comments, thanks for feedback.
It's been a tough six months pulling this line-up together and it's the first with chart acts in the schedule. With a mix of Indie, Dance, Cabaret, Musicals, Pop and Hip Hop I promise this will be the best main stage free Pride Event to date - mark my words!
Pride London originated as gay, but in my opinion Pride London is celebrating equality - equality much deeper than the eye. You can't see who is and isn't gay regardless of the media stereotypes. This show has been designed to show we live in unity and I hope you support our continued efforts to make Pride and event for all, not just for gays.
