Liam_2
Channel 4 has defended itself against accusations that it treats gay slurs less seriously than racist language on reality show Big Brother.

On Sunday a female contestant called Liam a 'poof,' yet no action was taken against her.

Personally i think the whole term of the word 'poof' has been taken way out of context.
im a gay guy myself and dont find the word insulting or offensive. unless it is directed at me in a negative and rude phrase of saying it. Laura from the big brother house did not call Gerry a 'poof', he called Liam a 'poof', for not being masculine. And she said it in a joke sense of phrase not a derogatorive way. unlike the incident of when Emily called Charley a 'n***er' she said it directly to Charley and maybe not an insulting way but there was negativity in her voice and manner of saying the word.
I think people these days look too much into things, and make a mountain, out of a mole hill of a problem.
My friends call me 'poof' all the time, but i know that they dont mean anything by it. So why should i get offended by it? they dont mean it in a hateful way towards me.
people should stop being pathetic about things and should stop pointing blameful fingers at people all the time.
no wonder everyone is so homophobic and racist all the time, when everyone makes such a big deal out things.
Here's some advice, that nearly every gay man says themselves yet i doubt ever does it 'build a bridge, and GET OVER IT'.

Only this week Charley accused Jerry of being a paedophile. This was a blatant slur and did not have the mitigating circumstance of Emily's use of the word "nigger" (an unfortunate- even lighthearted- slip of the tongue). That she was not expelled straight away is evidence that C4 DO treat actual homophobia more lightly than alleged racism!
