Britney's dad and lawyer in charge

Britney
Troubled pop starlet Britney Spears will remain under the guardianship of her father Jamie Spears, according to the ruling of the Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday.

Until a court-ordered physician establishes Spears is competent to make her own decisions, her father and attorney Adam Wallett will remain in charge of her affairs. And long-time pal Sam Lutfi is not allowed anywhere near Britney.

"The temporary conservatorship involving Ms. Spears has been extended until a hearing on Feb. 14," said Los Angeles Superior Court spokesperson Allan Parachini after a hearing on Monday, according to E! Online.

"A court-appointed physician was assigned to evaluate her competence to make her own decisions. The physician's report is due to the court on Feb. 13."

In addition Spears was ordered to have "no contact whatsoever, direct or indirect by phone, email or text messages with Sam Lutfi."

Lutfi has been acting as Spears' manager and publicist for months, seeming to come out of nowhere in the singer's circle of friends.

Spears' father and attorney Andrew Wallett obtained a restraining order to keep Lutfi from contacting Spears, but have so far been able to serve him with the order.

Meanwhile, Spears remains in the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA last week after being classed as G.D. (gravely disabled), and will likely be there for up to two more weeks.

Adam Streisand, an attorney claiming to represent Britney Spears, appeared in court on Monday, saying she did not wish her father to be named as conservator of her estate, according to E! Online.

"There has been an estrangement for quite some time. With him as conservator, that is causing her more agitation and more distress," Streisand said.

However, Court Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled Spears did not have the mental capacity to make the decision to hire Streisand and removed him from the courtroom.

Spears’ parents, Lynne and Jamie, as well as Lutfi, were among the first people to visit the troubled pop star after she was taken from her home by ambulance early Thursday morning to the UCLA Medical Center.

According to the New York Times, more than a dozen motorcycle officers and an LAPD ambulance arrived at the singer’s Studio City residence around 1 a.m. last Thursday.

Shortly after, Spears was rushed from her home into the awaiting ambulance.

Unidentified authorities told the Los Angeles Times that she had been placed on “mental health evaluation hold.”

An anonymous source from the Los Angeles Police Department told the Associated Press on Thursday that the 26-year-old pop star was taken to the hospital to “get help.”

This is the second time in a month that Spears has been hospitalised. On Jan. 3, she was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after she refused to give up custody of her two children to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

A child custody hearing over Spears' and Federline's children, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James, is scheduled for February 19. Currently Federline has temporary full custody of the two boys.
