I thought Ben has done a good job with this report, he has used a well balanced and thoughtful mix of examples.

I think we are in a real transition at the moment, and we're getting to the point where sexuality in itself doesn't drive "the scene". Rather it's more that our own interests create a more personal and tailored experience - and it's a very natural consequence in this rather odd era of "more choice=greater happiness" we have been in for the last 15-20 years or so.

This has bad points too though. I believe that the lack of any sort of non-commercial community spirit makes us all rather selfish and in the end rather lonely.

The tick box culture also has the unsual effect of making us less tolerent of others, especially of those of us who don't quite fit into one or other particluar niche.

We need more than ready availability and lots of choice to make us feel happy. I believe that this is where sites such as Gaydar ultimately fail us.

I felt that Mr. Cohen deliberately sensationalised the barebacking aspect of gay sex in such a way as to imply that Gaydar were actively promoting it, which is NOT the case.

In fact, there ARE websites which DO promote this. Anyone can meet someone in a bar and then do bareback; more importantly, barebacking is done in 90% of sexual encounters in a back room and in saunas (see old surveys from 1998). WHY pick on Gaydar, the most responsible of the websites?
