Gay musician Patrick Wolf has claimed he was assaulted by bouncers at a Madonna concert during her 'Sticky & Sweet' tour last year.
He
told EQ, the music blog, "Three songs in, me and my man were kissing
and there were loads of conservative straight couples around us that
complained.
"And then the bouncers came up to me and said, 'Can you stop
that? This is a family venue.'"
Wolf went on to claim that he was
handcuffed by security and beaten up outside Wembley Arena.
"The police
came and it just went on and on and on. My man's face covered in blood.
I couldn't move for like a month."
He has now said as a result of the incident he will never listen to Madonna's music again.

What a tosser. If he had a brain, he'd use this story to make a real point about current culture; but he blames Madonna, who realistically had zero to do with it, and, therefore, nullifies any real point he could have made.

I think perhaps Patrick has a right to criticize Madonna about his treatment. Madonna has made millions of dollars by using gay, lesbian and other sexually varianted people in her productions, so that she can claim to be a "liberated" and sexually free person. Yet now, when it suits her career, she claims to promote a family venue.
It smacks of hypocrisy, just a bit, that a gay couple gets roughed up for kissing at one of her concerts.
I mean, she's done far more on some of her videos.
family venue...Tchah!

Actually it wasn't Madonna who claimed it was a family venue, rather the bouncers at the concert. This after complaints from hetero couples around them. This proves nothing against Madonna. Who's to say she was even aware of what happened?

What a load off rubbish!! This 'pop star' (whom i've never heard of) is clearly desperate for publicity! And what better way to get it than accusing Madge of gay bashing! I was at the same show in the Golden Circle with my boyfriend. We were affectionate most of the way through and no one batted an eyelid!!!

"Three songs in, me and my man were kissing and there were loads of conservative straight couples around us that complained."
This comment made me chuckle. Conservative couples at a Madonna concert? Do you expect us to believe this? Madonna's past tours have involved simulated masturbation, crucifixion and on stage orgy's. why would any 'conservative' attend her show?

This sounds likely to have happened. After all Madonna does attract a main-stream, middle-class, conservative audience. Kind of naughty pop for the bourgeoisie.

OK, first of all,a Miley Ray Cyrus concert, is a FAMILY VENUE, not Madonna! Also, if the public can handle the sight of 2 men or 2 women kissing, in public - be it a concert, in the park, or a cafe. Perhaps those that did complain need to wake up and accept Couples kissing in public is PART OF LIFE! I do believe this guy, and SHAME on Magde's staff! BTW-who cares if you or I have never heard of this so called "pop star", he has something to say, and I for one believe him!

Screw the heteros !! They're at a Madonna concert. If they don't like men kissing get over it.They're uptight arse holes. Gay people have been putting up with heteros for centuries !!!

There is no point blaming Madonna, It's Wembley Arena and LIVE Nation her touring company that are to blame. I heard about this recently and ask a few friends who were police on the evening about this incident and they don't recall it happening.
I was at the Concert in the main standing area and my boyfriend and I were kissing and talking to lots of straight couples around us before the concert started and like someone above no-one batted an eyelid.
You must remeber that the security is owned by Wembley arena and those that host events so blame them for it, not Madonna.
Did you want her to personally jump off stage and help you?
Its another case of something else that happened at Madonna's only performance in Wembley - bad sound, coming on late, people getting left stranded as the transport was full and now someone being bashed. Anyone for anything else?

It annoys me when anyone kisses in public, there is absolutley no need for it at all... get a room!!!
There are some stuffy people at Madonna concerts, I think they go so they can look down their noses at her, and everyone else who goes!
As for Madonna, she doesn't care who's at her concerts as long as they're paying. It's the security at the venue that are clearly in the wrong.
I do however question the validity of this story, it sounds somewhat dramatically enhanced and I'm sure there is more to it then what is stated here. Possibly a pair of cocky queens giving it loads to security got a punch in the face!

So if the guy was coverd in blood and had clearly been assaulted, the Police present would have treated it as a common assault. Sounds more like a playground handbagging than half of whats he's made of it!!

Assault is assualt...assault because you were kissing your partner is hate crime and that's illegal. Have you prosecuted the bouncers? You make no mention of it. I believe this stuff goes on and it may be that your version of this story is so edited it's hard to understand what really happened, but I know I wouldn't be talking about it in this way if this had happened to me. If it was as bad as you say, there must have been thousands of witnesses, seek a prosecution and make a stand. kissing in public isn't illegal. If you're exaggerating this in any way, that's a shame because that's what many people think gay people do about assault. I hope the truth comes out, whatever that is.

If it's a family venue, perhaps a 50 year old near enough granny shouldn't be writhing around with men half her age on stage?
Posted by: Alex | January 31, 2009 at 02:26 PM
I was actually with two friends, one happened to be next to these 2 off their heads & drunk or whatever they were on.They showed the most inconsiderate aggressive, disgusting behaviour I have ever witnessed, they elbowed, punched my friend, splashed their drinks, provoked, swore at everybody...We missed half of the concert because of them...
And are they blaming Madonna for their own selfish, bullish and arrogant behaviour? What a cheek!!
Posted by: Me | February 01, 2009 at 02:07 PM
Well, that's not bad! He shouldn't be there in the first place. Got what deserved!

Two comments...Firstly, the "Sticky and Sweet Tour" is certainly not "family venue" material...Madonna really has nothing to do with the bouncers at Wembley...why blame her? Secondly, gay or straight, if these guys were being disruptive to other concert goers and would not calm down, then boot 'em!
Posted by: TK | February 02, 2009 at 08:38 PM
If Live Nation failed to do so, Madonna or her staff should have made an official statement regardless.

If male/female couples can kiss each other anywhere they like in this country without any problem, then gay couples should be able to do the same. Personally, I'd rather not have people of any kind snogging in front of me at a concert. But I wouldn't want them beaten up for it, or even removed from the venue.

Wow.. this guy is a real Z list no hoper who would do anything for some press footage. Madonna would have absolutely nothing to do with security on the premises, and this half wit obviously realised that blaming the Venue or promoters would get zero coverage. I'm not exactly a Madonna fan, but arseholes like this talentless fop really get on tits..

I think that gay rights issues have been pushed into the background these days. Thats why I am so thrilled to be performing 'Rent' at oldham college to help educate a new generation of homophobes on what life's all about. It's running from the 3rd to the 6th march. Contact the box office for tickets 0161-785-4239. It feels really good to be promoting HIV/AIDS awareness in an entertaining way.

Funny, I've been to more than one Madonna concert, where I've had a good old fashion snog with a boy, and I've yet to be asked anything.... Other than if I'd like a glass of wine, or if I was enjoying myself.
Could it be that there's a little singing boy who's trying to make a name by himself by riding on a successful woman, while slandering him in the process?
Sounds so...

If he was assaulted and bleeding so badly, why didn't he file charges against the bouncers, and sue the stadium, concert promoter, and Madonna ? Are there any other news sources to verify these claims ? Sounds like he's attempting to get his 15 minutes of fame....

Having just responded to another article, I couldn´t resist responding to this one with a somewhat similar comment. This sounds like another wannabe non entity trying to get publicity. I am no great lover of madge music, it´s generally designed to upset the more sensitive souls amongst us. But I generally find this highly public display of affection str8 or gay totally unnecesary, as said earlier "get a room". If I had been beaten up and bloodied as stated then not only would the individuals now be in court for assault, so would the employing company. We had a similar security company problem over here in the yumbo centre, needless to say neither the company or the staff have a job there any longer.
