Sacha Baron Cohen's new film has been given an NC-17 rating due to
its 'gay sex scenes'.
TheWrap.com reports that 'Bruno', which has the full title: 'Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt' contains "objectionable scenes".
Cohen, in the persona of gay Austrian fashionista Bruno, "appears to have anal sex with a man on camera. In another, the actor goes on a hunting trip and sneaks naked into the tent of one of the fellow hunters, an unsuspecting non-actor".
The NC-17 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America officially "signals that the content is appropriate only for an adult audience", but logistically, if the film does not receive an R rating (which means a child can watch so long as he/she is accompanied by an adult), the film might not be screened in certain cinemas.
It is now most likely that the offending scenes will be spliced out of the film and put onto an unrated DVD available to buy just before next year's Oscars...
