Stephen Fry, the openly gay writer and broadcaster, has revealed he has lost six stone since December.
The star, who previously weighed 21 stone, says he beat the bulge with long walks and healthy eating.
Having described himself as "appallingly corpulent", he told the Daily Mail: “I knew something had to be done. I'm 6ft 5in tall, but 21 stone is too heavy."
He added: “And I never thought I would say this, but I genuinely enjoy going to the gym. I spent years mocking them, but now I'm one of the converts.”
Fry, who broke his arm last year, also said the weight loss has had other benefits.
“I am very happy in a way I did not expect,” he said. “John Cleese once told me I would never be happy unless I stopped "being so f***ing polite all the time".
“What he meant was that I needed to stand up for myself. So I have done that, and now I consider I have reached the point where - to use my friend's immortal words - I am no longer quite as f***ing nice as I used to be - without being rude, of course.”

As if anyone actually gives a s*it how much weight the most overexposed man in the UK has lost. It will never be enough until he has lost so much that he has completely vanished.

Stephen Frye is a wonderful gentleman and one of my most memorable interviews in 12 years of film criticism.
We met in Denver to discuss the release of WILDE. He had a horrible head cold, but still granted an interview after which he departed the states for home.
Always wonderful to see what he is up to, and I'm thrilled for his newfound fitness.

Whether or not you agree that Stephen Fry is a boorish beyond belief is a matter of personal taste. Personally I find him to be both rude and ignorant beyond belief. But you would have a hard time putting together an argument against the case that Stephen Fry is currently the most sickeningly overexposed man in the British broadcast media.
Perhaps you are just one of these vacuous morons who thinks that we have to love him just because he happens to be a homosexual.
