Gay broadcaster Stephen Fry now a gym bunny

Stephen Fry, the openly gay writer and broadcaster, has revealed he has lost six stone since December.

The star, who previously weighed 21 stone, says he beat the bulge with long walks and healthy eating.

Having described himself as "appallingly corpulent", he told the Daily Mail: “I knew something had to be done. I'm 6ft 5in tall, but 21 stone is too heavy."

He added: “And I never thought I would say this, but I genuinely enjoy going to the gym. I spent years mocking them, but now I'm one of the converts.”

Fry, who broke his arm last year, also said the weight loss has had other benefits.

“I am very happy in a way I did not expect,” he said. “John Cleese once told me I would never be happy unless I stopped "being so f***ing polite all the time".

“What he meant was that I needed to stand up for myself. So I have done that, and now I consider I have reached the point where - to use my friend's immortal words - I am no longer quite as f***ing nice as I used to be - without being rude, of course.”

Hugh Jackman gave up his dancing dreams over gay jibe

Hugh Jackman has announced that despite wanting to be a dancer when he was a child, he gave up his dreams after his older brother accused him of being gay.

The 40-year-old X-Men Origins: Wolverine star said in an interview with Time Out: "In another world, another life, probably growing up in another country, I might have been more of a dancer. In fact I was going down that road when I was about 12.

"I was encouraged to do that, and I remember my brother saying, 'Ah, you poof,' so I gave it up. I dropped it like a hot rock. I didn't have the guts of Billy Elliot at the time!

“I think was about 11 actually, I wasn’t even 100 per cent sure what it [poof] meant but I knew this wasn’t cool. Then later when I was about 18, I remember thinking this is just ridiculous; I enjoyed dancing.”

Jackman recently told Parade magazine: “I'd be happy to go and deny being gay, because I'm not.

"But by denying it, I'm saying there is something shameful about it, and there isn't anything shameful.”

Lindsay Lohan refutes split rumours... again

Lilo Earlier this week, Lindsay Lohan addressed rumours that her over-publicised relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson was over: “Those rumours aren't true. We aren't broken up."

Let's hope the relationship is stronger than Lohan's grammar.

Hardly a day goes by without a new ‘story’ about LiLi and SamRo splitting up, beating up or allegedly shooting up.

This week, the latest accusation Lindsay's had to defend is that she's been flirtatiously texting “hunky DJs”, according to a source for The People.

Tabloids are constantly hyping stories of the couple's imminent split amid speculations over Lindsay having a male admirer.

The Daily Mirror, citing a “pal” as a source, claimed last year that Lindsay had her eye on effeminate Gossip Girl star Chase Crawford.

She was said to be texting him non-stop: “Although she may just be having a laugh and not have any serious amorous intentions, everyone reckons Sam will go mad when she finds out.”

The People circulated the rumour that Sam is nervous of this supposed eventuality: “Sam worries [Lindsay] wants to start dating guys again.”

It seems that tabloid hacks have an obscene desire for her to return to heterosexual Hollywood duties.

Yet, on top of Lindsay's myriad personal issues, we hazard a guess that any relationship could become a little intense when paparazzi stalk your every move and the public feels your private life is up for grabs.

Miley the new Judy Garland?

Miley The director of Hannah Montana: The Movie has compared the film's star, Miley Cyrus to screen legend Judy Garland.

Speaking of the first time he recognised the teenager's talent, Peter Chelsom said: “I was blown away. I just thought, you know there is no way this girl shouldn't be ranked with Shirley Temple or Judy Garland”

Some might worry about the state of the ruby slippers after all of that turning Judy must be doing in her grave.

However, Cyrus is certainly a hot contender for filling Garland's boots .

Lesbian photographer Annie Liebovitz bore the brunt of much criticism last year after taking photos of the youth wearing just a bedsheet and lipstick.

Miley's bosses at Disney were at the helm of the argument, stating that the photos, printed in Vanity Fair, were the result of “a situation [that] was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines”.

However, rebellious Cyrus has since gushed to the Daily Record that she would “love to work with Liebovitz again” and is even considering uprooting her life by moving to London to study photography at art school.

As for her chances of becoming as popular as gay icon Garland? “There's no place like home” is a starting point, we guess...

Elton's low-key birthday

Eltonjohn Famed not just for an extensive sunglasses collection, a tendency to cross-dress and a bad temper, Elton John is known for his extravagant parties.

However, this weekend, he celebrated his 62nd birthday with a relatively low-key trip to Hamburger Hamlet on Sunset Boulevard.

Perhaps this choice of venue was due to a certain sympathy for those feeling the pinch in the recession. Or, more likely, Elton's feeling the strain on his purse-strings after losing a libel case against the Guardian earlier this week.

Marina Hyde, writing in the broadsheet's Weekend supplement magazine, was accused of mocking Elton John's AIDS fundraisers. In an amusing article, Hyde suggested that Elton's parties, namely the opulent White Tie and Tiara Ball, held by the Elton John AIDS Foundation and raising £10 million last year, were regarded by Elton simply as an opportunity to make new famous friends.

With David Furnish's absence unaccounted for, Elton saw in his 63rd year with many guests, including Sharon, Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne, Cindy Crawford, Lady Victoria Hervey and former Pop Idol contestant Darius Danesh.

Kanye West: I do not dress 'gay'

Kanye West has again chosen to offer his opinions on homosexuality, this time stating that he does not 'dress gay'.

Speaking to Complex magazine, he said: "I really think it's because society tries to dictate the way a guy is supposed to dress and the way a guy is supposed to act, and I refuse to conform.

"A lot of these dudes would never be accused of being gay just because they all look exactly alike.

"If people could just realise the amount of mundaneness and followers that lack creativity... I think people's mentality is like, 'Only gay people are that creative'.

"And it's true there are a lot of gay people who are incredible creative minds, but there are straight people who are incredible creative minds - and there's gay people who can't dress or create at all, too.

"Closed-minded gay people probably say they dress 'straight'.

Last month, the rapper stated that the term 'gay' will be used in future as synonymous with fashionable and stylish.

Did Madonna's thugs beat up gay pop star?

1wolf

Gay musician Patrick Wolf has claimed he was assaulted by bouncers at a Madonna concert during her 'Sticky & Sweet' tour last year.

He told EQ, the music blog, "Three songs in, me and my man were kissing and there were loads of conservative straight couples around us that complained.

"And then the bouncers came up to me and said, 'Can you stop that? This is a family venue.'"

Wolf went on to claim that he was handcuffed by security and beaten up outside Wembley Arena.

"The police came and it just went on and on and on. My man's face covered in blood. I couldn't move for like a month."

He has now said as a result of the incident he will never listen to Madonna's music again.

Madonna's bro lays into Demi Moore

1ciccone

Madonna's gay brother has lashed out at Demi Moore claiming that she ditched their friendship after meeting her now husband Ashton Kutcher.

"A certain kind of diva carries a gay man around like a handbag, like an accessory," said the not-in-any-way-bitter Christopher Ciccone.

"And then once they find the right straight guy, they don't need a male companion any more."

This is not the first time Ciccone has spoken out against Moore.

In August last year, he revealed how she had squirted breast milk over his lesbian friends.

"We went out and Demi was dancing up on me and humping me from behind. The one part that's not in the book is that she was lactating at the time and she was squirting breast milk at my lesbian friends. The lawyers didn't think it was wise for me to print that."
