Lesbian gamers site launched

A new site has hit the web:

Lesbiangamers

The tagline for the site is: “Lesbian Gamers.com - because sometimes we use our hands for other things.”

A spokeswoman for the site told us:

“There was no strictly lesbian gaming site online with such directness as lesbiangamers.com and we think it's going to be a huge success.

“It'll also welcome contributions from lesbian gamers and hopes to encourage discussion and friendship within our community. It's really important for us as lesbian gamers to have somewhere safe and fun to hang out.”

The site home page says: “If you're a lesbian gamer, or indeed interested in lesbian gamers (tut tut) you'll find all your video gaming news, with a little touch of dyke right here.

"If you're a grrl who loves video games, whilst also loving the ladies, you've just found the right place on the net.”

Rugby players do calendar, forget clothing

Rugby_2

If you wanna raise money for a worthy cause, just ask a bunch of hot male athletes to pose naked; it’s guaranteed to do the trick. This year a group of Australian footballers have stripped down to their bare buns and are exposing their parts down under in the 2008 Naked for a Cause calendar that helps raise money for breast cancer research and awareness.

The hottest players in any league have donated their time and bodies to create one of the sexiest calendars available and all of the proceeds go to benefit the McGrath Foundation.

Founded in 2003 by Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath and his wife Jane, the couple realized they could make a difference in the lives of women and their families who were battling breast cancer. The organization helps to place specifically trained breast cancer nurses in rural arrears of Australia and helps raise awareness about the disease.

McGrath suffered from breast cancer and wanted to do something to assist women in the same situation. The foundation holds many different fundraising events throughout the year including football tournaments, lingerie fashion shows, and themed banquet dinners, but the calendar is certainly one of the most provocative and hopefully will be one of their most profitable undertakings.

21-year-old William Zillman, who graces the cover of the calendar with his rock hard abs and perfect pecs, admitted to the Daily Telegraph that he was a little nervous about posing nude, but knew it was going to help a great cause.

Zillman is just one of 26 footballers covered in mud and nothing else in this vividly hot limited edition 19-month calendar photographed by Pedro Virgil. Why 19 months you ask? When you see the pictures, all of your questions will be answered.

Which characters set gaymers pulses racing?

Thanks to the prevailing wisdom that all video gamers are hormonally charged heterosexual men, most developers design their wares with that demographic in mind.

As such, it should be no surprise that big-breasted babes abound in much of the software sold in stores today.

That doesn’t mean gay guys are left with no one to ogle when they fire up a game on their PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 or Wii.

In fact, more than a handful of hunks have paraded across the screen over years, with the following list highlighting the hottest:

Guile
Guile
(Street Fighter series)—The Street Fighter series has hosted a number of hotties over the years, but Guile stands head and shoulders above the rest because of his military background (who doesn’t like a guy in a uniform?).

He loses a few points for the weird ‘do, but everything else is so spot on that it can be overlooked.

Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 2 and 4)—Leon Kennedy proves you can be fashion-forward even while working to rid the world of zombies. Thankfully, he seems to be a looker even without the tight jeans, the bomber jacket and manicured mane. Now Capcom (the game’s producer) needs to give him a few alternate outfits to prove that point. Here’s an idea: Maybe he could run around in his tighty whities in the series’ upcoming sequel?

Kratos (God of War I and II)—What makes Kratos so hot? Well, for starters, the folks who designed him were inspired by Greek mythology—Hercules in particular. Unfortunately, they also made him sociopathic. Considering it looks like he stepped, dripping with sweat, out of Gladiator, I’m willing to give him a pass for not being completely sane.

Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid)—If Snake were a character in a movie, he’d be James Bond. Instead of hanging out at casinos and having sex with supermodels, though, he’d be spending his spare time in swamps and eating rats. OK, so Daniel Craig doesn’t have much to worry about when it comes to casting the next 007 flick. That said, I doubt Snake would be caught dead packing his Speedo.

Frank West (Dead Rising)—Frank isn’t the most photogenic guy in the world (his schnoze is a bit suspect, for starters), but he exudes a cool confidence that puts any and all of his superficial shortcomings to shame. (The leather jacket and unbuttoned shirt help matters as well.) Of course, I guess you have to be confident when your job consists of killing zombies.

El Blaze (Virtua Fighter 5)—Professional wrestlers may lack a few things (a sense of style, a well-developed vocabulary), but at least some of them are easy on the eyes. That’s certainly the case with the shirtless (and disturbingly shiny) El Blaze, the latest addition to Sega’s seminal series of fighters. Now if only we could convince him to ditch the silly mask...

Dante (Devil May Cry series)—Here we go again, a game character who’s dedicated to exterminating demons. While Dante’s designers may have been creatively challenged when they came up with his back story, they obviously worked through their issues when they brought him to life physically. He’s definitely a bit of a pretty boy—what with that chic hairstyle, red leather jacket and low-rise pants—but the tight abs and well-defined chest are sure to attract guys with all tastes.

Vaan (Final Fantasy XII)—Finally, a twink! Vaan’s a 17-year-old street urchin who dreams of becoming a “sky pirate.” Whatever. In the real world, you just know Vaan would be sashaying around town and chatting on his new iPhone while ogglers of both genders follow his every move.

Gays addicted to risk?

Poker

A new report into problem gambling has revealed some interesting insights.

The Times reports that "researchers at the Universities of Minnesota and Yale advertised for gambling addicts to join a research project, they noticed something odd.

"Of the 105 men who approached them, 22 were gay or bisexual — a much higher proportion than in the population at large — and they included a number of the worst problem gamblers."

This leads the paper to ask - do gays like risk?

It seems an insulting hypothesis to us. The "risks" that people associate with gay men are everything to do with living in a society that tells you you are worthless.

That is why some gay men have risky sex in risky situations and take risky drugs. Its because they don't love themselves enough.

They subconsciously have absorbed the message that they are worth less than their str8 counterparts.

We need to stop thinking its "cool" to be risky and start realising we have just as much right to be safe as everyone else.

Gamers website outs gay characters

Vaan
Is Final Fantasy XII's hero Vaan, pictured above, a friend of Dorothy?

Website gamesradar.com certainly think so, and to be honest, we agree.

The concept of gay characters is nothing new - I mean check out the butch 'tache on Mario - but for a long time gays were under-represented.

Despite the fact that many gamers are gay. The question is  - what is the point of "outing" characters?

Is this yet another bunch of childish "str8" boys laughing at gay people?

Here is what they said:

"Zelda's fairy obsessed Tingle is gay. No question. But how about Gears of War's gruff and brutish Marcus Fenix or God of War's one man massacre machine, Kratos?," asks gamesradar.com

"Here are five popular gaming heroes that we think show signs of covert - and not so covert - campness. Could they be gay...?"
