Zac Efron, Studio 54 and Andy Warhol

Zac Dupont
High School Musical cutie Zac Efron could be stepping up into a new adult role in a new movie.

Richard and Robert DuPont may not mean much to you, but in New York they are kinda iconic, being teen twin twinks from Connecticut who came to the Big Apple, got mixed up with the Studio 54 crowd, took lots of the drugs and did sex with famous old gay men.

Now nearly 50, they recently acted as associate producers on the movie Factory Girl, which was about that whole Warhol thing.

"We were Andy's proteges," they told the Daily Mail.

Richard and Robert DuPont  recently discussed what they got up to during their time as precocious runaways in the Studio 54-era Warhol camp. Andy, it seems, had a thing for twins.

"He would kiss me, and yes he touched me – he would sometimes jerk me  off," says Richard, according to SX News.

"Warhol also used Richard to recruit "cute  friends" to take part in the creation of the oxidation paintings.  "Andy would watch. He didn't touch himself, but he did this moaning.  'Oh!…Oh!…' It was like he was having an orgasm while he watched us.

"Or at least faking one. And then he would take us to lunch and give  us $100, or some of his silk-screen wallpaper of the cow or Mao."

Now the reclusive twins, 48, have said Zac is "top of their list" to play them.

What a scoop!

Still, allows everyone involved to print a pretty picture of Zac.

Nigel Kennedy calls Euro football gay

Nigelkennedy

Yes, it is not just Chris Moyles who talks like one of da kids - national laughing stock Nigel Kennedy, who older readers may remember was a minor celeb for about 25 seconds a few decades ago, can still get an interview in some parts of the world.

The original Mockney shared with the good people of Brisbane, through the pages of the Courier-Mail, his views on the beautiful game:

"I really think that European football, for instance, is really gay."

How so, Nige?

"It's gay shit."

How perceptive - could you elaborate?

"It's just lots of geezers just thinking, 'Is my haircut nice enough?' or something.

"Real footballers, people who play for their own club and support their club, that's men's football.''

The Courier-Mail's intrepid journo lost no time in pointing out to the irritating violinist that his hair is a national disgrace.

"I've got a pretty shit haircut and I know it. I'm not going to be fretting over it, like David Beckham might.''

Becks can sleep soundly tonight - his status as a gay icon is unlikely to be in danger from "geezer" Kennedy.

Speaking of hair, here is a picture of a proper dodgy Barnet, as Nigel would say:

Britney fan hits back at critics

Thanks to Queerty.com for bringing this clip to our attention.

It seems one of Britney Spears' more vocal fans has reacted badly to her embarassing performance at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this week.

19-year-old Chris, who describes himself as Queen of the Ghetto, has this to say:

"The name is Chris. Chris Crocker. The game is positivity. I believe the best way to educate and spread positivity is through entertainment, which translates to edutainment. Which just so happens to be my specialty."

This Britney rant has been viewed more than 3.5 MILLION TIMES!

When PRs don't pay attention

It did actually make me laugh out loud.

Check out the first line of this press release, sent to PinkNews.co.uk, the UK's leading GAY news website:

"Whether you want to pull the birds, impress your mates or nail that interview, the Morphy Richards Male Grooming Guide will tell you how to go from messy caveman to hot metrosexual."

Get this - it includes tips on WASHING yourself and how to WASH and IRON your clothes.

Groomingguide

It's hilarious - and make us laugh so much we will even tell you where to get your own copy - just call 0870 060 2614.

Though we have to say it pales into insignificance next to this gem sent to PinkNews.co.uk earlier this year:

"On behalf of the Antigua & Barbuda Tourist Office, we would like you to invite you to join us for a rum punch and some Antiguan nibbles with music by Dread & the Baldhead (featuring Antiguan cricketing legends Richie Richardson on guitar and Curtly Ambrose on bass) on Friday 22 June at the private members only club - Hedges & Butler - just off Regent Street, London

"This informal evening begins at 6.30pm and will be a great opportunity for all to catch up over a rum punch or two and enjoy the music."

Yea, that all sounds lovely - just one problem - homosexuality is illegal in Antigua & Barbuda.

Silly PR people.

Big Brother homophobia

Liam_2
Channel 4 has defended itself against accusations that it treats gay slurs less seriously than racist language on reality show Big Brother.

On Sunday a female contestant called Liam a 'poof,' yet no action was taken against her.

Oh my God! Hideous Big Brother sisters

Amanda
Amanda and her twin (below) Sam, who were first into the Big Brother house, seem like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie wannabes.
Sam

They may appeal to the gay community but our immediate reaction was "bugger off you D-list wannabes."

Meanwhile, celeb clinger on, Charley, seemed to immediately annoy the audience.
Charley

Tracey looks odd but funny.

Tracey

Lesley looks a little too intelligent to be joining this bunch of women

Lesley
More later if we can stomach it especially if any lesbians appear in what's been dubbed Big Sister.

Gaytanamo - but is it ART?

Those excellent  bloggers of gay life Stateside, www.queerty.com, have an interesting story running at the moment.

Seems that the makers of this delightful film:

Gaytanamo

are claiming that far from being insensitive and just a bit rude, it is in fact a deep social commentary on the nature of American society.

No, seriously.

Check out this quote from producers Dark Alley:

"Our use of this title does not, as many have jumped to the conclusion, suggest ignorance, lack of humanity, or any other stereotype which people are fond of applying to the category of pornographer.

"In fact, it represents a very conscious and deliberate attempt to suggest the interplay of culture, politics, sexuality, and representation in a work that has found meaning in an area where erotic film has not previously found relevance."

Pretentious porn. Love it.

Big Brother ups gay numbers

Bigbrother
"This year’s Big Brother is set to be a gayfest.

"Bosses plan to carry on camping right through the summer by lining up more gays than ever in the BB house."

This is from The Star by the way, not The Guardian.

"At least half of the 14 housemates have revealed they are homosexual or have bisexual tendencies."

Oh joy. Let the tabloid frenzy commence. See - its so great to be gay in 2007 - we get totally used by Channel 4 in a sad attempt to make even more money and generate even more headlines.

When BB started in 2000, they said it would never last. Sadly, it has.

Heroes gay character disappears

Heroes_2
Thomas Dekker, aka Zach from Sci-fi series Heroes has left the show because playing a gay character would kill his career.

The popular TV series has been hailed as the new Lost.  Just with superheroes, and storylines that people can actually follow.

But they have lost their only gay character because 19-year-old Dekker's management think playing gay could reduce his chances of getting straight roles.

Tell that lame excuse to Heath Ledger.

Heroes co-executive producer Bryan Fuller said in an interview posted on popgurls.com:

"(Dekker's) manager threatened to pull him from the show because he was up for the John Carter role in The Sarah Connor Chronicles and she didn't want him playing a gay character because it might affect FOX's interest in hiring him.

"It got really ugly. I was very upset by it – I was not happy about it at all."

Fuller explains that the character of Zach was intended to be gay from the very start.

In the first episode of Heroes, Zach is teased about getting horny in the boys locker room.

In another episode, a school mate calls Zach a "gay-boy" and he dismisses the remark by telling his friend Claire that he knows and likes who he is.

"The show's been such a positive experience for so many people, we didn't want to get hung up on the fact that one actor's management felt that it was a career killer for him to play a homosexual, which, as a gay man, I found incredibly insulting.

"We had episodes planned for him to be in, and she pulled him from the show altogether. So that's why he sort of disappeared."

Good riddance, too.

In an e-mail last year to AfterElton.com, a website that monitors the visibility of gays and lesbians in the media, co-executive producer Tim Kring apologised for the resulting mess: "It was certainly not our intention to confuse the issue of Zach's character being gay.

"We have too much respect for our audience to do that intentionally."

Lindsey Lohan's lezzzzzz-bain affair

Lohan

Sorry, didn't mean to wake you.

Important? No, not really.

Just that another over-exposed star is in the lesbian area again.

After Drew Barrymore, Carmen Electra, Natalie Portman, Dolly of Parton and hundreds of others, Lindsay Lohan is the latest to show Sapphic tendencies.

It's Lesbian Story Mark 2 - "friend" or "ex-lover" of star makes with the goods to the press.

Former publicist Jonathan Jaxson wrote in his blog:

"Lindsay actually has always been quite open. Maybe she was tired of the boys and that is why she decided to spice it up with BFF (best friend forever) Samantha Ronson."

Yada. At least it makes a nice change from Lesbian Story Mark 1 - publicity-hungry celeb "lets slip" in the course of a promotional interview that she has/might/thinks about/would consider doing it with another lady.

Though of course the phrase "former publicist" is not quite as believable as, say, a nun.

But there you go - the tabloids get yet another opportunity to picture sexy celeb pics and str8 men everywhere get something else to think about while they exercise their democratic rights.

How to out yourself as a foolish magazine

200pxjodie_foster_at_the_1989_acade

An American gay lifestyle magazine has controversially "outed" two celebrities including the film star Jodie Foster.

Out, published by PlanetOut the Nasdaq quoted company that also owns the slightly smutty gay.com dating and "news" website has also outed the CNN "star" Anderson Cooper

The magazine has also published its list of America's top gays, rather like the Independent on Sunday's annual Pink List.

"I would be lying if I told you I wasn't aware of your list," Aaron Hicklin, editor of Out told yesterday's Independent on Sunday.  "We wanted to do a little of what the Independent does, to have a dynamic list where people are ranked and where people are rising and falling on an annual basis."

PinkNews.co.uk doesn't like outing people unless there's very good reason to, perhaps only if they are a politician who has consistently voted against gay rights. So we're rather confused how you justify outing Ms Foster and the CNN anchor most of us here in Britain have never heard of.

We prefer the Independent on Sunday's approach to gay lists, only listing those who want to be out.

Maybe this year, it could even include Benjamin Cohen the founder and former editor of PinkNews.co.uk . He now graces our screens a couple of nights a week explaining (all be it somewhat camply) the latest business or technology developments on Channel 4 News.

Gays addicted to risk?

Poker

A new report into problem gambling has revealed some interesting insights.

The Times reports that "researchers at the Universities of Minnesota and Yale advertised for gambling addicts to join a research project, they noticed something odd.

"Of the 105 men who approached them, 22 were gay or bisexual — a much higher proportion than in the population at large — and they included a number of the worst problem gamblers."

This leads the paper to ask - do gays like risk?

It seems an insulting hypothesis to us. The "risks" that people associate with gay men are everything to do with living in a society that tells you you are worthless.

That is why some gay men have risky sex in risky situations and take risky drugs. Its because they don't love themselves enough.

They subconsciously have absorbed the message that they are worth less than their str8 counterparts.

We need to stop thinking its "cool" to be risky and start realising we have just as much right to be safe as everyone else.

Paris Hilton told to apologise

Gay rights activists in America have told airhead millionairess Paris Hilton to apologise for using racist and homophobic language.

A tape has appeared on video sharing site youtube.com featuring Paris and sister Nicole referring to a man as a faggot and calling themselves n**gas.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Homophobia president Neil Giuliano said:

"When Paris Hilton utters these words into a camera, it creates a permanent record that…she must bear responsibility for.

"These are not frivolous words and to use them as if they are gives tacit sanction to the racism and homophobia they engender."

He urged Paris Hilton to:  "go on the record, explain herself, and publicly apologise to the LGBT and African American communities and all those offended by these slurs."

Paris Hilton is 25-years-old.
